Since 2002, we have been bringing feature film screenwriters together for the entire month of October to live and work on Almanack Pond Road, nestled amidst Nantucket’s cranberry bog conservation land. Our October Colony for feature film writing is an all-expense-paid residency in which four writers are provided with round-trip transportation to Nantucket, private bedroom/workspace, a chef to prepare meals, shared car, bicycles, and endless nature to explore and inspire. Selected from a pool of nominated candidates, writers-in-residence are given ample time to generate and refine their work. With the belief that unique visions exist in every genre, and that the most dynamic group is made up of a diversity of voices, we support writers working in all areas of feature storytelling.

On weekends throughout the month professional industry mentors join the writers on Nantucket to workshop the scripts. In addition to intensive one-on-one notes sessions, writers and mentors enjoy intimate social time over meals and island outings. Mentors are drawn from an ever-expanding pool of highly accomplished screenwriters, directors, producers, and executives.
