LILY BALDWIN is a filmmaker and dancer working in NYC, LA and Berlin. Her films use choreography in stylized dreamscapes to drive narrative. Working with an array of musicians and artists, she reinterprets conventional storytelling to make elegant and brash films.
SLEEPOVER LA world premiered at SXSW and Berlinale EFM, 2014. It premiered online on NOWNESS. Episode #1 of The Paperback Movie Project: A JUICE BOX AFTERNOON premiered with Filmmaker Magazine. SEA MEADOW (SXSW 2012, V&A Museum LONDON, Art Basel Miami 2013, BEST OF SXSW St. Kilda’s 30th anniversary, Australia, 2013) is available on Itunes. Previous work has screened at Lincoln Center in NYC and internationally at art fairs, galleries, museums. Music videos include Blood Orange: Sutphin Boulevard, The Forms: Fire To The Ground.
Prior to filmmaking, she worked ten years as a professional dancer. She has performed with The Metropolitan Opera Ballet, The Trisha Brown Dance Company, among other NYC companies. Most recently, she performed with David Byrne on his EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS WILL HAPPEN TODAYWorld Tour. She is featured in the subsequent documentary RIDE RISE ROAR (SXSW, 2011).
GLASS is her first feature film, selected for INDEPENDENT FILM WEEK’S Emerging Storytellers in NYC, 2014. Also in development are her short episodic series: THE SOAP SERIES and THE SLEEPOVER SERIES.
