Jennifer Kushner



As Film Independent’s Director of Artist Development, Jennifer Kushner works to support independent filmmakers and storytellers who embody diversity, innovation and uniqueness of vision. Jennifer oversees the selection process and management of the Film Independent Filmmaker Labs, Grants and Awards, and Fast Track, an independent film financing market during the LA Film Festival. She also supervises Project Involve, Film Independent’s signature diversity and mentorship program and the Fox Writers Intensive. Produced films developed with the support of Film Independent’s Artist Development programs during her tenure include Afternoon Delight, Arcadia, C.O.G., Future Weather, Mississippi Damned, Mosquita y Mari, Natural Selection, LUV, Valley of Saints and the documentaries Rich Hill, Burn, Call Me Kuchu and The Light in Her Eyes, among many others.

Jennifer received her MFA from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts in Production, and her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University where she majored in Performance Studies. She also worked as on-set assistant to director Dennis Dugan on I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry, in which she makes a ridiculous one line appearance, and as development assistant at Sobini Films. Jennifer was one of four writers selected to attend the 2008 Screenwriters Colony Writers-in-Residence Program on Nantucket. Jennifer lives in Echo Park (Los Angeles), with her fiancé and three amazing children. When she’s not at FIND or busy changing diapers, she also continues to write, direct and produce.
