Hernán Jiménez


Born and raised in Costa Rica, Hernán attends the screenwriting/directing MFA program at Columbia University, he studied film at the San Francisco Art Institute and trained as an actor at the National Theatre School of Canada. His first feature film – EL REGRESO (The Return) – was theatrically released in Costa Rica and soon became one of the highest grossing local films of all time. It also premiered at the HBO New York International Latino Film Festival where it won Best International Feature, while screening at various festivals in Latin America, including the Mar del Plata Int’l Film Festival in Argentina, and the Havana Int’l Film Festival to great critical acclaim. 


Hernán has also written and performed three stand-up comedy specials. He lives in Los Angeles, where he is currently in post-production for his second feature film ENTONCES NOSOTROS, a romantic comedy set on the lush Costa Rican beaches of Santa Teresa and Malpaís.
