Houston native, Darius Clark Monroe is an award winning filmmaker and MFA graduate of NYU Tisch. He’s a National Board of Review and HBO Short Film Award recipient. Most recently, he was selected as a Sundance Institute Fellow at the inaugural 2013 Screenwriters Intensive. Currently, he’s completing post production on his next film, an autobiographical feature documentary entitled ‘Evolution of a Criminal’ (Recipient of an Austin Film Society Grant, Spike Lee Production Fellowship, Warner Bros. Film Award, Cinereach Grant, King Finishing Award, Tribeca All Access Participant, and a selectee of the 2013 IFP Documentary Lab).
Darius focused his work at the Colony on developing his script, YEAR OF OUR LORD: the story of a young Black couple, living in BedStuy, Brooklyn, grappling with the fact that their 7 year old son is possibly the second coming of Christ.
