You may have heard already, but Screenwriters Colony recently added a position (and a person) to the organization. Screenwriter Bill Gullo was hired as the Colony’s Assistant Director. He will work closely with Lydia Cavallo Zasa to support existing programs and develop new ideas for growing and strengthening the Colony community. In other words, he will try to wrest some of the dozens of hats currently on Lydia’s head.
Bill is primarily a feature film writer, but has been doing a mashup of writing, producing, and directing for the last decade and a half. Most recently he’s been developing projects for TV and less ‘traditional’ content for the web. In addition to his experience as a writer, Bill has years of experience in the non-profit field, developing and coordinating programs in community-based organizations. He’s a good fit for us.
This is a perfect time for us to add to our ranks. Our programming has had exponential growth in the last few years. For over ten years we were focused on curating writers and nurturing them during our October Screenwriters Colony, but recently we’ve added an Episodic Comedy Lab, a Virtual Reality Lab, and we’ve piloted an Episodic Drama Writing Lab, which is the event Bill participated in. These new programs come with new partnerships, like the Sarasota Film Festival and Harmony Institute among others. Needless to say, we’re thrilled to have Bill onboard and look forward to to his contributions to Screenwriters Colony as well as his continued media projects in all the forms they take.
