2017 Episodic Comedy Colony Writers


We are excited to announce the four writers selected for our 2nd Annual Episodic Comedy Colony, in partnership with Nantucket Film Festival.


Meg Favreau, Kaitlin Fontana, Calvin Jai Jamison, and Joe Keohane will develop their original 30-minute pilots in our immersive two-week residency and mentorship program at Almanack Arts Colony on Nantucket. The program culminates in a reading of scenes from each pilot at the Nantucket Film Festival on June 22.

kaitlin fontanaFilterless, crusty music writer Casey Keats is blackmailed into taking a job at a hipster blog when the newspaper she works at shutters. Kaitlin Fontana’s CASEY CAN’T is a comedy about being too old for this shit before you turn 40.


calvin_jai_jamisonAn actress of color tries to work in Richmond, Virginia, but the only projects she can audition for are period pieces (and the occasional sassy best friend). RVA, by Calvin Jai Jamison is a comedy about what it means to be young, Black, and intelligent in the Capital of the Confederacy.


joe_keohaneTHE TIMES, by Joe Keohane: A failing newspaper in a failing town gets its revenge.


Eric Gilliland serves as Creative Advisor. Gilliland is a Peabody- and Golden Globe-winning writer/producer whose television credits include Roseanne, The Wonder Years, Who’s The Boss?, and That 70’s Show. Gilliland also produced the documentary God Grew Tired of Us: The Story of The Lost Boys of Sudan, which won both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival. He currently teaches at Tisch’s Goldberg School of Dramatic Writing at New York University.
